• Technician Grade-III: 6,234 posts (Pay Level-2)

Horizontal Reservations (within above totals): Ex-Servicemen: 661 posts (Gr-I Signal: 32 + Gr-III: 629). PwBD: 330 posts (VI: 39, HI: 103, LD: 143, MD: 45). EWS: Candidates with family income below ₹8 lakh per annum. EBC (Economic Background Concession): Candidates with family income below ₹50,000 per annum — fee concession only, no job reservation. Vacancies are distributed across 21 RRBs and various railway zones and production units across India.

Each post / trade has specific ITI trade requirements. Candidates must check the detailed Annexure A, B, and C of the official CEN 02/2026 notification PDF to verify the exact trade-wise eligibility for each vacancy. Qualifications must be completed by the application closing date (29 July 2026) — candidates awaiting final results are NOT eligible.

Only the maximum single relaxation is applicable — relaxations are NOT cumulative. For example, an OBC-PwBD candidate gets either OBC relaxation OR PwBD relaxation — whichever is higher — not both added together.

• Payment Mode: Online only — Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI. Service charges are borne by the candidate.
• Separate Fee: If applying for both Gr-I Signal (Level-5) and Gr-III (Level-2), candidates must pay the fee separately for each pay level.
• Modification Window: ₹250/- additional fee to make corrections in the application form (01–10 August 2026).
• No Refund: Fee is NOT refunded for incomplete/rejected applications or non-appearance in CBT.
• Refund Mode: Refund is credited only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account of the candidate.

1. Visit the official website of your nearest / preferred RRB (Regional Railway Recruitment Board) — e.g., rrbchennai.gov.in, rrbahmedabad.gov.in, rrbcdg.gov.in, etc.
2. Click on the CEN 02/2026 — Technician Grade-I Signal / Grade-III online application link
3. Click "New Registration" and enter your Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, and Email ID
4. Log in with the credentials received on your registered mobile/email
5. Fill in the online application form with complete personal, educational, and category details
6. Select the post(s) you wish to apply for and indicate your order of preference (within the chosen RRB and Pay Level)
7. Upload your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format
8. Pay the prescribed application fee online (Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI)
9. Review the complete form carefully, submit it, and download/print the final application for future reference

⚠️ Key Rule: Candidates can apply to ONLY ONE RRB per Pay Level. Submitting multiple applications for the same Pay Level will lead to rejection of ALL applications AND debarment from future RRB/RRC examinations. Apply separately (and pay separately) for Grade-I Signal (Level-5) and Grade-III (Level-2) if you wish to apply for both.

1. Stage 1 — Computer Based Test (CBT): A single CBT per Pay Level (separate CBT for Grade-I Signal and Grade-III). 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes. Subjects: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science, General Awareness & Current Affairs. Negative marking: −1/3 per wrong answer. CBT marks are normalised across shifts. Conducted in 15 languages (English, Hindi + 13 regional languages).
2. Stage 2 — Document Verification (DV): Candidates shortlisted on CBT merit at 1:1 ratio (RRB-wise, against number of vacancies) are called for Document Verification. Candidates found ineligible during DV are disqualified. There is NO Psycho Test (CBAT) for Technician posts — unlike ALP recruitment.
3. Stage 3 — Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates undergo a medical fitness examination as per Railway Medical Standards. Medical standard categories vary by post: A-3 (Track Machine posts), B-1 (Signal and most Grade-III posts), B-2 (Crane Driver), C-1 (Workshop / Production Unit posts). A candidate found unfit for their higher-preferred post but medically fit for a lower-preferred post will be allotted the lower post.

Final selection is based entirely on CBT merit (normalized), subject to qualifying DV and Medical Examination. There is no interview or skill test for Technician posts.

Separate CBTs are conducted for Grade-I Signal (Pay Level-5) and Grade-III (Pay Level-2). The question papers for each pay level are of different standards — Grade-I Signal paper has a higher difficulty level. No Psycho Test (CBAT) is conducted for Technician posts.

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates are entitled to: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA — based on city), Transport Allowance (TA), Night Duty Allowance (as applicable), Railway Travel Pass (self and family), Medical Benefits, Pension (Old Pension Scheme / NPS as applicable), Group Insurance, Leave Encashment, and other Railway employee benefits.

• A candidate can apply to ONLY ONE RRB per Pay Level — one application for Grade-I Signal (Level-5) and one application for Grade-III (Level-2)
• Submitting more than one application for the same Pay Level — whether to the same or different RRBs — will result in rejection of ALL applications for that Pay Level
• The candidate will also be debarred from all future RRB/RRC examinations
• Within the chosen RRB, candidates can indicate their order of preference for multiple posts/trades within that Pay Level
• Candidates can submit TWO total applications (one for each Pay Level) — and pay the fee separately for each

⚠️ CRITICAL: Multiple applications for the same Pay Level = disqualification from the ENTIRE recruitment and future Railway exams. Be very careful to apply to only one RRB per pay level.

A candidate found medically unfit for their higher-preferred post but medically fit for a lower-preferred post will be allotted the lower post — not rejected outright. Vision requirements, hearing, and physical fitness vary by category. Refer to the official CEN 02/2026 PDF for post-specific medical standard details.

The complete selection process for RRB Technician 2026 is: CBT → Document Verification → Medical Examination → Final Appointment. No interview, no skill test, and no psycho test. Final merit is determined entirely by the CBT score (normalized).

• 12th Pass (Physics + Maths) eligible: Candidates with 10+2 Senior Secondary with Physics and Mathematics are eligible for Technician Grade-III Signal & Telecom (S&T) posts specifically
• 12th Pass NOT eligible: For most other Technician Grade-III posts (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, AC, Carriage & Wagon, etc.), the minimum requirement is 10th Pass + ITI certificate in relevant trade from NCVT/SCVT recognized institution
• Act Apprenticeship: Candidates who have completed Act Apprenticeship in relevant trades are also eligible for certain Grade-III posts
