RRB Technician 2026 Notification Apply Online

This is an increase of ~319 posts (+5.1%) over the previous cycle (CEN 02/2025 — 6,238 posts). Grade-I Signal vacancies nearly doubled from 183 to 323. Selected candidates are posted across Railway zones, production units, and establishments across India.

⚠️ Last date to apply is 29 July 2026 (11:59 PM). Do NOT wait till the last day — apply early to avoid server load and technical issues.

⚠️ Always verify the website URL ends in .gov.in. Beware of fake websites. RRB never asks for payment through unofficial channels or WhatsApp.

1. Visit: Go to the official central portal rrbapply.gov.in
2. New Registration: Click "New Registration" — enter your Name, Date of Birth, Aadhaar Number, Mobile Number, and Email ID
3. OTP Verification: Verify your mobile and email via OTP. Complete Aadhaar-based identity verification (mandatory)
4. Login: Use the generated Registration Number and Password (or existing login if you applied for RRB ALP/NTPC 2026)
5. Select CEN & RRB: Choose CEN No. 02/2026 (Technician) and select ONE preferred RRB zone per Pay Level
6. Fill Application: Enter personal details, category, address, educational qualifications (ITI/Diploma/B.Sc.), trade details, and post preferences in order
7. Upload Documents: Upload live photo (via webcam/smartphone camera) and signature in prescribed format
8. Pay Fee: Pay online via Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI
9. Preview & Submit: Review ALL details carefully in the preview screen before final submission — corrections after submission require the modification window (₹250 fee)
10. Download & Print: Save and print the final application form and fee receipt for future reference

⚠️ CRITICAL: Apply to ONLY ONE RRB per Pay Level. Submitting multiple applications for the same Pay Level leads to rejection of ALL applications AND permanent debarment from RRB/RRC exams.

• Payment Mode: Online only — Net Banking / Debit Card / Credit Card / UPI
• Separate Fee: Pay separately for Grade-I Signal (Level-5) and Grade-III (Level-2) if applying for both
• Modification Window Fee: ₹250/- extra to correct application during 01–10 August 2026
• Refund Condition: Fee refunded ONLY if you appear in the CBT — no refund for rejected applications or non-appearance
• Refund Account: Refunded only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account linked by the candidate
• EBC: Economically Backward Class (family income below ₹50,000/year) — fee concession only, NO job reservation

All qualifications must be obtained by the application closing date 29 July 2026. Candidates awaiting final results of their qualifying exam are NOT eligible. Each Grade-III post has a specific trade requirement — always check Annexure A and B of the official CEN 02/2026 PDF for exact trade-wise eligibility.

Important: Only the maximum SINGLE relaxation applies — relaxations are NOT cumulative. SC/ST or OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR (unreserved) vacancies get NO age relaxation. Tie-break in CBT: older candidate ranks higher; if still tied, alphabetical order of name is used.

• You must enter your Aadhaar Number at the time of registration
• The fee refund after CBT appearance is credited ONLY to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account of the candidate — ensure your bank account is linked to Aadhaar before applying
• If your Aadhaar-seeded bank account is found to be non-operational, the fee refund will NOT be processed
• PAN verification may also be required as an additional step during the application process

If you do not have an Aadhaar card, obtain one at the nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Centre before applying. Aadhaar enrollment is free at all government-authorized centres.

• Candidates must submit a separate application for each Pay Level
• Candidates must pay the fee separately for each Pay Level application
• Each application must select ONE RRB zone — you can choose the same or different RRB for each Pay Level
• A separate CBT will be conducted for each Pay Level
• You can ONLY submit ONE application per Pay Level — multiple applications for the same Pay Level = disqualification

⚠️ Maximum 2 total applications allowed — one for Grade-I Signal (Level-5) and one for Grade-III (Level-2). Both are independent — applying for one does not affect the other.

1. Stage 1 — Computer Based Test (CBT): Single CBT per Pay Level. 100 questions, 100 marks, 90 minutes. Negative marking (−1/3). Marks normalized across shifts. Shortlisting for DV done RRB-wise at 1:1 ratio of vacancies based on CBT merit.
2. Stage 2 — Document Verification (DV): Original documents verified for eligibility, category, qualification, and age. Candidates found ineligible at DV are disqualified. NOC required if currently employed in Central/State Govt. or PSU. No Psycho Test (CBAT) — unlike ALP recruitment.
3. Stage 3 — Medical Examination: Conducted by Railway Medical Authority as per post-specific medical standard — A-3 (Track Machine), B-1 (Signal/most Grade-III), B-2 (Crane Driver), C-1 (Workshop/PU posts). Candidate found medically unfit for higher preference but fit for lower preference is allotted the lower post.

Final Merit: Purely CBT-mark based (normalized). No aptitude test, no typing test, no PET, no interview. Tie-break rule: older candidate ranks higher; if still tied, alphabetical order of name.

In addition to basic pay, selected candidates receive: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA — city-based), Transport Allowance (TA), Night Duty Allowance (where applicable), Railway Travel Pass (self and family), Medical Benefits, Pension (OPS or NPS as applicable), Group Insurance, Leave Encashment, and other Railway service perks.

• Candidates can correct most details — name, date of birth, qualification, category, photo, signature, post preference order — during this window
• The chosen RRB zone and registered email/mobile number CANNOT be changed after initial registration
• The correction window is a one-time opportunity — use it carefully
• ₹250 modification fee must be paid online — same payment modes as application fee

⚠️ After the modification window closes (10 August 2026), no further changes are allowed under any circumstances. Double-check all details before submitting the original application to avoid needing correction.

• Must be issued in the prescribed format (Annexure-II of CEN 02/2026)
• Must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 but not later than the closing date of application (29 July 2026)
• OBC candidates in the Creamy Layer are NOT entitled to OBC reservation and must apply as General category

• For CEN 02/2026, the relevant financial year is 2025-26 (as the application closing date is 29 July 2026)
• Family gross annual income must be below ₹8 Lakh from all sources
• OBC Creamy Layer candidates CANNOT claim EWS benefit
• EWS certificate must be in the prescribed format (Annexure-III) issued by the competent authority

⚠️ Misrepresentation of SC/ST/OBC/EWS status at any stage — application or DV — leads to permanent debarment from all RRB and RRC exams and may invite legal proceedings.

• Age Proof: Class 10 / Matriculation certificate and marksheet
• Educational Qualification: ITI Certificate (NCVT/SCVT) with relevant trade / Diploma / B.Sc. / Degree certificates and all marksheets
• Act Apprenticeship Certificate: NAC (National Apprenticeship Certificate) if claiming eligibility on this basis
• Category Certificate: SC/ST (Annexure-I) / OBC-NCL (Annexure-II — issued after 01 April 2026) / EWS (Annexure-III — FY 2025-26) as applicable
• PwBD Certificate: Issued by competent authority if applicable
• Ex-Servicemen Discharge Book / Certificate if applicable
• NOC from Employer: If currently employed in Central/State Government / PSU / Railway
• Passport-size photographs as specified in the DV call letter

Always carry both originals AND self-attested photocopies. The complete document list will be specified in the official DV call letter issued by the respective RRB.

• Electronic Gadgets: Mobile phones, pager, smartwatches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, microphone, health bands, calculators
• Stationery: Book, pen, paper, pencil, eraser, pouch, scale, writing-pad (all stationery is provided at the centre)
• Personal Items: Belts, handbag, cap, purse, camera, water bottle, packaged/open food items

Cloak room arrangements for safe-keeping of belongings may NOT be available at the exam venue. Candidates are advised NOT to bring any valuables or banned items to the exam centre. Violation of these rules may lead to immediate disqualification, debarment, and FIR against the candidate.

⚠️ Candidates must carry their e-admit card printout and a valid original photo ID. Entry will be denied to candidates who do not carry both documents.
